1st Anniversary

We celebrated our 1st Anniversary on April 26th, the same weekend as graduation! What a fun and crazy weekend! We decided we didn't have the money or the time to do anything to exotic, so we stayed close to home at a b&b in Salt Lake. We loved it! The inn is an old mansion by the state capitol. It's called the Inn on the Hill.


We were exhausted when got there Friday night and we had arranged for a late check-in, but we were later than expected. Oops! The receptionist took us to our room on the 2nd floor. The room was called the Salt Air. It had a gas fireplace, king size bed, a view of the whole valley down state street, a MASSIVE jetted tub, and a cool arch over it that came from the old Hotel Utah. It was so nice to wake up the next morning and have someone bring us breakfast in bed. Luxury! We watched a movie and lounged awhile, until we decided to go shopping at The Gateway.

After a fun shopping trip, we had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called Flemings. It was so good. We absolutely loved the appetizer rosemary bread and the spreads it came with. One was a sun dried tomato butter with herbs and the other was champagne and bree. The steak was very tender and the sides were very innovative and unique. They said we would get a free treat since it was our anniversary and then the waitress came by with the dessert menu and said to let us know if we wanted the lava cake, because it would take 20 minutes to bake. We chose that of course! Suprisingly, when we got the bill, they charged us for it! Then we realized that the "treat" was a box of truffles that they brought us. They also took a picture of us and framed it.

We headed back to the bed and breakfast, and while Chris was unlocking the door to our room, I noticed music playing. After he unlocked the door, I saw that there were several candles lit in the room and the bathroom, instrumental music was playing and they had a Martinelli's on ice. Almost exactly like our wedding night! It was a sweet surprise. Unfortunately we had to go home the next day, but we would definitely go back. We loved the original lighting, the billiards room and the snack closets on each of the floors that were filled with goodies.
